GIRLIE DAY!!!!!!

Mags and I did our nails and bought some sparklie rings.....

then we went to the hairdresser and got our hair done.....

when we came home Mom was all prettied up too so we took a girlie shot.

Cupboard Doors Are Going Back On.

The upper cupboards are all painted turquoise and the very top cupboard doors are all painted white. We went this morning and purchased a drill that doesn't give us a shock every time we push the on trigger. So we're off and running. Drilling new holes for the new handles and

re installing the doors.

to make it last longer!

They're still a bit wet so I"m leaving them open until they're completely dry.



Here is the new clock we got at Canadian Tire. I think it's a Debbie Travis design. It's hung up on a not painted yet wall because we couldn't wait to oogle at it. I'm beginning to think all this mess and work might just be worth it!

Early Morning Thrifting

Mom and I both went thrifting this morning. We both brought back some treasures.

Mom found this pretty sheet in London at the big thrift shop (it may be turned into a house dress) and she found this little purple summer dress at the local shop here in town. I grabbed the apron at the local shop as well as this super cool hair dryer! I hope it will work with pin curls and pillow curlers. We'll see how practical a purchase it was later tonight. It was $4.99 and is clearly marked WORKS!


I also scored some pretty awesome patterns! I am excited to unfold them and see how complete they are. Our Salvation Army shop (aka Sally Anne) only charges the original price on the pattern, but you are taking a risk by not knowing if the whole pattern is there.
So far...... it's been a pretty good day!

Kitchen Retrovations Continue.

Birthday week was pretty great this year except poor Mom was sick on my actual birthday but Maggs made me some pretty kick butt quiche. Merc sent me a virtual birthday note via the interconnected web. Mr. Jimmy spoiled me the weekend before with a fun antiquing day, and Mom surprised me with an after birthday celebration up in her Attic apartment when she felt better. That's not to mention all the great birthday suprises I got at work, or the super special flowers from Mom and then more from Auntie J and the A man. All in all I'm feeling pretty loved and spoiled.


George really likes birthdays..... well maybe he just likes birthday boxes that have been emptied. (Maggs always gets the best boxes for her gift giving.) Seriously.... why do cats cram themselves into the most impossibly teeny boxes? How can that be comfortable?

Here is a pic of what we've been up to today. I'm painting colour onto the cupboards while standing on a ladder and enjoying a bowl of pink lemonade ice cream. Twice I almost dipped the brush into the bowl and once I dipped the spoon into the paint. It all seems to be working out well otherwise though.

Progress is being made slowly. Really want the paint to stick so we're taking our time and sanding and TSP ing well before we prime. We are also making sure the primer is well dried before we apply paint to it. Hopefully it will last a bit longer because of our efforts but only time will tell.

Birthday Flowers and Decisions.

The house is filled with birthday flowers already.

The spring is full of birthdays at our house. The girls and I are all about a month apart. The flowers sure do help shake off the winter blahs.

One from my Mom and the other from Auntie J and the A man clear across the country. Thanks soooooo much guys. They are beautiful, and I love you all bunches.

We have most of the cupboards sanded TSP'd (oh and I'm having a terrible reaction to the cleaner) and primed. We have picked up the new door pulls and drawer handles, and here are the paint colours we picked...... finally! We're pretty stoked about starting to add colour.

Wii are Distracting!

I've been busy working on the kitchen redecorating, and my kits, and I have suddenly somehow found myself crocheting an afghan for Mr. Jimmy's computer room.

Here are some so far pieces so I can show off the cool Grandma ish 1970's colour scheme. I wanted to add yellow too but it suddenly got way tacky.

This has also been VERY distracting and taking up a good hour of my day after work.

Wii Fit!
My awesome Bro got us the Wii for Christmas a couple years ago and we have always enjoyed it. But Mom just got Wii Fit and we really are addicted to it. Getting outside in this snowy wintery cold spring has been just unpleasant, so I think the Wii Fit thing will get us in pretty good shape for the summer dress season.

Red Lipstick!

We are working away on the kitchen redecorating today. We went to town to pick up the necessary supplies. You know.... sandpaper and sanding sponges, TSP to clean greasiness and stains, paintbrushes and primer and masking tape. We also picked up a ladder tall enough that we can reach the ceiling easily. Ended up being a depressingly expensive trip to the hardware shop.

So to cheer myself up........

I purchased an excessively red lipstick. I think I might just like it. I've never worn red before.

Kitchen Retrovations..... or.... The Oh Dear God Phase of Interior Decorating.

I have now officially entered the "Oh Dear God!" phase of our kitchen redecorating.
Hold me...... I'm afraid!

I'm past the point of no return. I can't simply screw the cupboard doors back on and ignore the peeling "almost wood" surfaces. I have to commence sanding and cleaning and priming and painting. I think we've decided on a very pale avacadoish green for the base cupboards and a creamy white for the doors, but things could change.

Made a perty flower to wear in my hair. It's not symmetrical or even in any way, but neither am I so we're pretty good together.
I do believe I'm feeling stress...... I'm gonna go and have a tea!

Things That Make You Say Hmmmmmmmmmmm....

So, today I discovered something a little disheartening. I went to the post office with one of my new craft kits all tucked inside a bubble wrap envelope.
I'm pretty excited about the prospect of being able to send out these kits. I've been waiting forever to get this idea up and actually running. The sense of accomplishment in completing the first kit and getting them all packed up to send to secret crafters was enormous.

What a HUGE let down when I discovered that it will cost $10.00 to ship a large envelope regular post across Canada.
This is simply not going to work. It's too expensive!
I need options..... any ideas?

Paint Swatches and Ideas On Napkins.

This morning Mr. Jimmy and I made a trip downtown. We had breakfast at Stonetown Diner. It was delicious as usual. I had Eggs Bennie and Mr. Jimmy had a Bagelie thing. Then we decided it would be a good idea to brainstorm. We came up with this......

It will be a lamp. We saw a mushroom lamp online made from glass and driftwood. It was beautiful. We want to try to make something simpler out of polymer clay and led lights from The Source. We're going to talk our buddy Bill into helping us figure it out. We'll keep you posted and share anything we come up with.

We also went to Canadian Tire and picked up some paint swatches. We've been putting off painting the kitchen for far too long. We have cut up the little colour pieces and have taped them all over the kitchen cupboards to see what we think of them over the course of the next couple weeks.

I should also deal with some of this today. I have many many boxes and cartons filled with half finished ideas and projects. This is one of many jewelry idea stashes. I really should figure out what I'm going to do with all this. Maybe it will inspire some new project. We'll see.
