Mini Popcorn Earrings for Kate

Sometimes folks suggest design ideas to me. This was one of those times. Kate said it would be fun to have teensy popcorn earrings. It was a great idea. Here's how things turned out.

Two earring stud findings with backs
I used a clay roller
a pointy dental tool but a toothpick will do in a pinch
a soft paintbrush to apply the chalk
some sort of jewellery glue I used E6000

I made a flat sheet of white Fimo about 1/4 cm thick and a sheet the same size out of the red Fimo. Layer the sheets on on top of one another and cut the new double layer sheet in half. Layer these double sheets onto each other keeping the colour pattern in order. Cut and layer the sheets one more time.

Slice 1/4 cm thick slices from the stripy layer of clay and lay them beside each other to form a sheet. Use a clay roller to flatten the sheet out and help connect the segments together.

Make some teeny bag shapes from the stripy sheet.

Fill up the striped bag with some white clay. Make a 1/4 cm thick worm of white Fimo and cut segments from the worm that are about 1/4 cm long. Turn these segments into balls. Use a pointy tool to shape the little balls into popcorn shapes. Add a teensy dot of caramel Fimo to the centre of each popcorn shape.

Pile the teensy popcorn onto the white clay in the bag until it overflows.

Carefully cut the filled popcorn bag in half from top to bottom. Add more popcorn if necessary to cover up any unsightly bag edges. Dust some yellow STAEDTLER Karat Soft Pastel Chalks onto the popcorn to give it a buttery glow.

Bake the popcorn in a preheated 230 degree oven on a parchment lined baking sheet for 20 minutes and allow them to cool off. Glue the earring findings to the backs of the popcorn and viola.....  You're ready for movie night!
